Right, it is fairly obvious that we all agree that there is nothing better than a few slices of dead pig included in your full English Breakfast.
And what do you always associate with Bacon? You got it. Eggs. Egg and Bacon. Not quite a full English but still a great way to start the day. But you want an egg from an healthy chicken - not from the poor foreign battery chicken in the image.
Well the government has done the dirty on our Egg Producers in much the same way they did the dirty on our Pig Farmers and before them our Beef Industry. It would seem that they are deliberately making it almost impossible for anyone to produce any food in this country at all.
Illegal battery eggs The UK Government has refused to impose a ban on imports of illegal battery eggs and egg products, and the BEIC has now taken the first step in the Judicial Review process - a pre-action protocol letter - asking Defra to give a fuller explanation for its decision and to review its current position that the Government cannot do anything to prevent the importation of illegally produced eggs and egg products. BEIC’s legal advice is that the Government has incorrectly interpreted the law and it believes that the Government must not condone the importation of illegal battery cage eggs and egg products into the UK.
Andrew Parker, BEIC Chairman, commented: “British egg producers have invested heavily to meet their legal obligations and improve animal welfare. EU member states have had more than 12 years to get their houses in order and comply with the new legislation, so there are no excuses.
So if you want to make sure that you are eating a good legal British Egg then go here and read how to spot one. At the same time, you can pledge your support by signing their petition to support British Farmers. Did you sign the one for the Pig Farmers. You did? Good man.
