Important Message to all BNP General Election Candidates

Following the highly revealing court case held on May 6th in the High Court involving Richard Barnbrook, there is a distinct danger that possibly all BNP candidates who represented the party at the General Election (2010) could be liable for making false election expenses declarations.
Please allow us to explain: anyone standing for election (at any level) in British politics is required to submit their “election expenses”. All items on these election expenses must be already paid, otherwise you cannot list them as an “expense”.
Under Section 78(3) of the Representation of the People Act 1983 all bills relating to election expenses have to be paid within 28 days of the election result being declared.
Under Section 82(6) of the Representation of the People Act 1983 making a false declaration as to election expenses can carry a sentence of up to a year’s imprisonment or a fine of up to £5,000.
At some point in November 2010, National Elections Officer Clive Jefferson arrived in the BNP’s Belfast headquarters waving a piece of paper. This piece of paper was the BNP’s “election expenses return” for the 2010 General Election.
Clive made a big huff about how he was going to get this crucial document submitted on time for the first time in years. However, after questioning several of the party’s staff and former office bearers, the total list of the party’s election expenses was pitifully small, perhaps around ten items in total (this simply shows just how disorganised the party’s elections department, that he had been running for around five months, really was).
One member of staff, however, pointed out to Clive that many of the items on the list had not been paid, and thus, should not be listed on the return under electoral law as an “expense”.
Clive Jefferson then deliberately and wilfully discarded this important piece of information and submitted them anyway, thus breaking the law.
Clive knew perfectly well, what he was doing. He was warned by several staff members in the Belfast office not to proceed with his illegal plan, but despite these protestations, Jefferson went ahead and submitted these fraudulent expenses returns.
Mr Jefferson at one point tried to induce a staff member to falsify documents for submission – when his scandalous request was refused he became abusive.
On May 6th, Richard Barnbrook, as Nick Griffin’s “election agent”, was in the dock defending himself on an identical charge. An item appeared on the Barking election expenses that had not been paid, but it was listed nevertheless.
As Griffin’s election agent, Mr Barnbrook was now in a heap of trouble for submitting the return on his behalf.
The problem is this: the printer who produced the party’s 15 million or so leaflets for the General Election hasn’t been paid in full. He has only been paid for around two thirds of the total bill – he is still owed around £45,000.
So, it could be the case that every General Election candidate could now be liable for submitting their election expenses – listing the leaflets – when the bill hasn’t been paid, thus infringing electoral law, as in the case of Richard Barnbrook.
All 300 of the BNP’s General Election candidates are at risk, that’s the law, as in the case of Richard Barnbrook.
It is as simple as this: the Richard Barnbrook case has brought to the attention of our well-organised enemies the possibility of around 300 BNP candidates being dragged into court for making false declarations. Do you think they would pass up on such a great opportunity to damage the party?
This emerging scandal will also make future BNP candidates think twice before standing considering the desperate past record of paying bills by our National Treasurer (first David Hannam and now Clive Jefferson).
This scandal is made all the more incredible considering that the lion’s share of the funds for the printing bill were raised at local level and handed over to head office!
The new “Dream Team” surrounding Nick Griffin will without doubt try and spin these immensely damaging revelations as “an attempt to derail the forthcoming election campaign”.
This is simply not true. This information is intended to protect decent, hard working nationalists from the serial incompetence and blundering of people like Clive Jefferson and Nick Griffin.
