British National Party Chairman and Member of the European Parliament, Nick Griffin, was taken into hospital near his home in Welshpool yesterday afternoon after complaining of pains in his back and stomach.
Doctors believe the discomfort might be caused by kidney stones and are keeping Mr Griffin in for tests.
This might mean that the BNP chairman will be unable to attend the Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand, central London on Monday.
He is due to appear for the final ruling on the case brought against the Party by the Equalities and Human Rights Commission concerning the membership criteria of the British National Party.
In a brief statement from his hospital bed Mr Griffin said:
"I am very keen on being in court on Monday as I believe there is going to be a judgement in favour of the British National Party. I am waiting on the result of a series of tests on my kidneys and gall bladder and then the doctors will decide what course of action to take."
